Scope
This specification governs the surface preparation, material application, curing, and verification of all epoxy floor coating systems installed by EDC-certified professionals across the United States. It applies to every project executed under an EDC written quote, effective 01 January 2025.

Surface Preparation
Concrete substrate shall be mechanically profiled to CSP 2–3 (ICRI Guideline 310.2R) via diamond grinding with dust-collected equipment. All contaminants — sealers, curing compounds, prior coatings — shall be removed to bare concrete. Existing cracks ≥ 1/16" shall be routed and filled with polyurea joint filler prior to base coat application.

Moisture Testing
Every slab shall be tested per ASTM F2170 (in-situ relative humidity probe) at a minimum of three points per 1,000 sq ft. Results shall be recorded in the project file. Slabs measuring above 85% RH shall receive a two-part epoxy moisture mitigation primer before the system may proceed. No exceptions.

Mil Thickness Per Coat
Wet-film gauge readings shall be taken every 200 sq ft. Base coat: 8–10 mils wet. Broadcast layer (flake / metallic media): as spec'd per tier. Top coat: 4–6 mils wet minimum, 8 mils on Metallic and Artisan tiers. Total system dry-film thickness: 16 mils minimum residential, 25 mils minimum commercial.

Cure Windows
Base coat re-coat window: 4–24 hours at 70°F, 50% RH. Top coat foot traffic: 24 hours. Rolling load / vehicle traffic: 72 hours epoxy top coat, 24 hours polyaspartic top coat. Full chemical cure: 7 days. Ambient conditions during cure: 55°F–90°F, RH below 85%.

Photo Verification
Every project shall be documented with a minimum of eight photographs: substrate before prep, post-grind, post-crack-fill, moisture test reading, base coat, broadcast, top coat, final. Photographs shall be uploaded to the EDC project file within 24 hours of completion. Final client payment is released only after EDC review confirms adherence to this specification.

Installer Audit
Every certified installer is audited quarterly: certificate of insurance verified ($1M GL minimum), portfolio reviewed, project photos sampled against this spec. Two consecutive non-conforming audits result in decertification. Audit records are maintained by EDC and available on written request to trade clients.

Guarantee
All work performed under this specification is covered by the EDC Workmanship Guarantee, published in full at /guarantee. In case of dispute between client and installer, EDC mediates and holds project funds until resolution.
